Year of the Dragon – Revision 2 Year of the Dragon – Revision 2

Year of the Dragon – Revision 2

Arrives 22 January 2012 at the New Moon 11:39 PM PST.

Snakes and Dragons are looking at 2 fantastic years as Snake Year follows Dragon Year and they are in mutual resonance with #1 compatibility. Dragon Year will be trying for Dogs, Dragon’s opposite.
My fraternity brother wrote the screenplay for Animal House. The main characters were all Snakes and Dragons – Classes of 1962 and 1963, born in 1940 and 1941.

THE ADVANTAGES AND THE PROBLEMS OF DRAGONS ARE MENTAL.
Dragon’s prodigious brains always come up with the right answer – AND THAT IS THE PROBLEM.  Dragons are the geniuses of the Oriental zodiac. Their “right” answers block them from a higher right, as it were.

My 1964 Dragon Japanese girlfriend was a genius. In many respects she had the finest brain I have ever encountered with overarching rational, creative and INTUITIVE powers. A few years ago she was transiting mental institutions due to alcohol abuse.
The protagonist of “Animal House”, Otter, was a 1940 Dragon. He achieved the highest grades in the history of UCLA Law School after leaving Dartmouth College. He today is a mostly retired attorney and owns a small winery producing Sesquepedalian Sauvignon Blanc.

The Chinese animal year begins each Western year about 4 February - it does not begin at the Chinese New Year[1]. So, if you were born before 4 February in any year your Chinese animal year is the sign before. Those born 4 or 5 February should consult the link in the endnote below or http://www.chinesefortunecalendar.com/NewYearDays.htm

The last Dragon Year 2000 was unbelievable for me! I spent the Millennium [remember that?] New Year in India on the banks of the Ganges for a month and then traveled to the Andaman Islands for a month then meandered up to Nepal in March. I ended up hooking up with a nice Japanese girl in Kathmandu. We did a fantastic Himalayan trek together in the Mt. Everest region hiking up to a small Sherpa village near the Tibetan border with a lovely monastery. We were together for several months, parting in Bangkok at the airport at the end of May. She flew on to Japan, I to California.
She is a 1964 Dragon. Clearly, she had an impactful year. To shorten the story a lot, by the end of Dragon Year she was forced by her father, a WW 2 Japanese Army veteran, to marry a nice young Japanese man, mostly to keep her away from me. Me. Who showed up unannounced at her summer place in the mountains of Northern Japan in July 2000.

The bottom line is those born in the Year of the Dragon will have a whirlwind of ….. let me just use Plato’s term  - you will be “attacked by Fortune.” Those born in Years compatible with Dragon will have great years also. These are the signs whose compatibility is 1 or 2 below – Rat, Snake, Monkey, Rooster.

Monkeys in particular could use lots of good fortune as they are recovering from 2 or 3 abysmal years. The USA is a fire Monkey. Tiger Year 2010 was the opposite – 6 years apart - of Monkey and brought many problems. Rabbit Year [2011] is an opposite for Roosters and, therefore, difficult. Dragon Year will be trying for Dogs, Dragon’s opposite.

Compatibility legend

1 excellent     2 successful     3 – good     4 – fair     5 – awkward     6 – clash

Running commentary:
None of the current Presidential candidates are Dragons. The savviest comment I’ve heard so far is the Republican contender has not surfaced yet [12/31/11]. Obama is an Ox – his great year was 2009.

Dragons to watch
David Petraeus, although it appears that his tumultuous phase of the last 5 years is over as of December 2011 and his personal life is accentuated, perhaps leading to retirement of some sort.

Sandra Bullock, Ellen, Anne, Jamie,            I’ll add others when I get a round tuit.

The first day of the animal year is different from the Chinese New Year Day. The animal year starts on the first day of the Tiger month. Tiger month begins from the day when Sun enters ecliptic 315 degree position, which is around February 4 Gregorian calendar. That means the animal month is solar month, not lunar month. This is why many people who born in January or February confuse about their animal sign of birth year. To verify the exact animal sign of birth year goes to use the free online Chinese Astrological Animal Sign page. http://www.chinesefortunecalendar.com/NewYearDays.htm
